This is my chapter from Techno Security's Guide to Managing Risks for It Managers, Auditors and Investigators. This was a bit of a proof-of-concept, both in my writing style, and to figure out if I could get enough momentum behind the concept of "No-Tech Hacking" to warrant an entire book on the subject. Thankfully, the reception has been so amazing that we are pushing for a book on the subject with a working title of "No-Tech Hacking" due out Q4, 2007. The concept behind no-tech hacking is rather simple.

Lots of people have decent perception. Hackers tend to have very good perception, but they tend to use their natural curiosity to seek out opportunities to apply their perception, and when they see something, they tend to make the absolute most of it. This is the essence of No-tech Hacking. Bypassing high-tech security without the use of technology. Making the most out of every opportunity in order to get behind the curtain.
