This technical brief serves to highlight many recent advances in the realm of wireless attack and penetration techniques. With so many nuances and niches in today's security market, it's very easy to become overwhelmed and lose site of what is actually being used on the front lines of information warfare; the newest, the best and the most unique. Highlighting exciting new presentations and tools, this overview will provide attendees with a well-organized overview of what, exactly, is creating a buzz in the wireless security community these days. Presentations covered include: -The Need for an 802.11 Wireless Toolkit. Presentation by Mike Schiffman -Advanced 802.11 Attack. presentation by Mike Lynn and Robert Baird -802.1x: What it is, How it.s broken, and How to fix it. presentation by Bruce Potter -Wireless Overview Protocols and Threat Models. presentation by Dan Veeneman Tools covered include: -Kismet -Airtraf -Airopeek -thc-rut by THC -air-jack, wlan-jack, essid-jack, monkey-jack, kracker-jack -WAP, EAP, 802.11i, 802.1x, -the RADIATE 802.11 add-on to Libnet By highlighting these and other tools and demonstrating them in the context of an actual network attack, attendees will gain up-front exposure to how these tools can be (and currently are being) used together in the field. Also addressed will be defensive mechanisms to protect against these and other techniques. This presentation is not designed to simply reiterate other's work in the field, but rather to highlight them as works of excellence and provide a structured framework for utilizing these tools and techniques in the real world alongside current standards and staples of the attack community.
